Hot Water Storage

Hot Water Storage

Hot Water Storage

Water is the most commonly used liquid for sensible heat storage because it has a relatively high specific heat capacity, almost no degradation under thermal cycling, good compatibility with most containment materials and it is widely available and inexpensive. Thermal hot water storage is especially well suited when it is integrated with other technologies such as solar, biomass gasification or waste heat that might only be available intermittently. The thermal storage capacity will allow the new heat source to charge the system during low use periods and then use the storage capacity during the day to supplement the heating plant capacity.
