From 2016 to 2021, FVB have supported Corix in the design and construction of the Burnaby Mountain DEU Central Energy Plant inclduing a 13.5 MW output capacity biomass module, a 8.3 MW output capacity natural gas module. At full build-out the CEP will result in an estimated annual reduction of 11,600 tonnes of CO2 for both the SFU Campus and UniverCity community (a reduction of 80% over the current system). 

The plant’s efficency is reducing carbon emissions is equivalent to emissions from 900 homes a year. The plant will also meet 97% of BC government’s 2050 GHG target.
